Heinkel 111 tanks fueling acess

hi all,

a very simple question :

how many access points to fill the tanks were they on the He111 ?

Thanks for your answers.

Cher Ami,

As you do know my German knowledge is very basic...but from what I understood here (ANLAGE 17 page) it seems it had 4 tanks on the wings (2 each wing)...so that may answer your question...

KG 100 or KG 26 machine...or that old crash (ferry flight to Germany)?

And a fusulage tank.

Thanks guys.

I also got this answer " Looking at a top view engineering drawing of the He111, it appears there were 2 refuel access (circular) covers on each wing, or a total of 4 per airplane".

The reason why I ask the question is that I found a second fueling instructions plate on a He111 crash site and I was wondering how of these there could be on a He111.

Cheers and thanks again to all.

Gilles,

Look at the PDF file I sent you...I tried to find a very interesting German word: "Umpumpanlage" and guess that I found what you are looking for at the LAGEPLAN (sheet ANLAGE 12).

Look out for plate A.17 (will need to zoom ++)

Otherwise the word do appear on pages 82-83 (interesting), pg.110 (interesting information about 700 lts and 1025 litres) and 131-132....but guess that YOUR plate may be this A.17 one...

Cheerio,

Just for curiosity...A.17 plate is located at "Hauptverteilertafel"

You can find the location zooming as I informed....

Plates E-5, E-12 and E-13 (the last two easily findings) also do have "Umpump" or "Umpumpe" on them...but my guess still stay with Plate A.17

Merci beaucoup / thanks for the lien Adriano, and thanks Snautzer also.

This documentation is really fascinating .

This plate comes from the He111 of Erprobungstelle that crashed on 11/11/43

Snautzer, congratulations for matching it...

It seems weird to have such a plate inside the fuel tank...

I was trying to match the other Gėrat coded C-4 (on the right of this one you matched), on Gille's page/site...and it seems to be (on the PDF) fitted onto the right wing (see ANLAGE 12) Gilles....and on the C-ANLAGE list, C-4 is listed as "Stecker mit Stiften". Hope this help too Gilles...

Congratulations SNAUTZER and a most beautiful article you do have! I learned quite a lot here...
