Oblt Heinz Forgatsch of this unit was mentioned in the OKW Communique for an attack on Coventry this night. He was one of 9 crews which attacked the Alvis factory and a gasholder in Hill Street between 0100-0145 hrs. Does anyone have any more information on the attack or another attack he flew around the same time, all of which contributed to his award of the RK

Two of these extracts from the Luftwaffe "Lagebrichte" on the TSAMO site (Akte 128) mention two low-level attacks on the Rolls-Royce plant in Crewe in one night, Forgatsch carrying out both. The third item is about the next night's attack on Coventry.

Thanks Nick. So 7 April for the Crewe attack (a popular target for 806 it would seem)

Yes, sorry. Nr. 577 was the report as of 10.00 on 8 April, so it was describing the events of the night of the 7/8th.

NICK,

Please do excuse my lack of knowledge, but this "Akte 128" was it intercepted from ULTRA (I mean, were the British feasible to know small units actions in such detail very soon after their debriefing) or it is an Original German source (debriefing report)? Just for clarification in my mind...

By the way, if one could find such "after mission debriefings" on the German side, it would be a fantastic finding...

Not ULTRA this time, Adriano (in fact I've never explored any 1941 ULTRA).

Akte 128 contains OKL Führungsstab situation reports for 6–10 April 1941, one of the items in the TSAMO "German Documents In Russia" collection, online here: http://wwii.germandocsinrussia.org/d...-luftwaffe-okl

Luftflotte 3 makes little mention. 2 aircraft attacked Bristol, one attacked Bournemouth, 4 attacked Greenock, one attacked Liverpool and one attacked Portsmouth
