Aberdeen 7th August 1942

At about 22:39 hrs a German aircraft dropped 4 x 500KG bombs on Aberdeen.

On one of the raid reports, it was stated that the aircraft had four engines!

The aircraft in 1942 was most probably form Norway or Denmark, and I doubt it had 4 engines.

Anybody got any info into what the aircraft that dropped 4 x 500KG bombs would be?

DO17 could only carry 1000kg load?
HE111 could carry 2000kg
JU88 could carry 2000kg?

Any thoughts?

500kg or 500lb? Latter would be more reasonable but not a four-engined aircraft. Would not have been a Do 17 but more likely to be a Ju 88
