Airmen Died in the Second World War DVD-ROM

Chris Hobson has produced a new necrology for the RAF and Commonwealth Air Forces of WW2, published by Naval and Military Press. The DVD can be found with a nice "early bird price" at:
https://www.naval-military-press.com...eid=f9019f7bbf

They note that the DVD needs Windows 10 and is not Mac or Linux compatible.

For those who still have some shelf space available, there is the ten volume soft-bound set of 9367 pages, also discounted for a while, at
https://www.naval-military-press.com...-air-services/

Enjoy!

Frank

Hello,

Pros and cons of these books/DVD discussed on RAFCommands at some length, here:

Col

Would you still say it is useful for someone not having the individuals as his primary interest?

Is the CD searchable with regard to dates, aircraft types and serial numbers?
If it is then I will consider buying it, if not, it then becomes a more or less useless tool for me, sorry to say.

Cheers
Stig

Stig,
Check the first link in my post. It lists the data fields (which includes the ones you asked about), and says that they are all searchable. I don't have the DVD yet, so I can't say whether you can search multiple fields at the same time, or whether you can wild card the search fields.

Enjoy!

Frank.

This might help. http://www.rafcommands.com/database/wardead covers 87% of all airmen lost in WW2. with aircraft types dates and serial numbers. and it is an evergoing project that will keep pulling in meta data every day.

Thanks Jagan

But I have already decided not to buy the CD/DVD

Cheers
