Though possible (look at Hess albeit he was one way) I think not. Let us wait for John Vasco to comment!

Re: Does this make sense?! Me110 shot down over Liverpool?!
I'm off out in a couple of minutes, so can't follow this up at the moment.
However, if memory serves me well, there was a Lw aircraft shot down by an RAF fighter that took off from Speke and intercepted it immediately on take-off, shot it down, and landed again in about 15-20 minutes. A bomber. I'll check my references later today. Chris, you may recall such an incident? |

This was a Ju 88 of 2/806 on 8 Oct 40? Came down at Port Sunlight

Re: Does this make sense?! Me110 shot down over Liverpool?!
Right I'm back.
That's the one I was thinking of, Chris. Ju88A-1 M7+DK 4068 2./806 Down at Bromborough Dock, Port Sunlight at 16:15 hours. Attacked by three Hurricanes of 312 Squadron: Denys Gillam, Alois Vasatko & Josef Stehlik. Gillam shot the Ju 88 down even before his undercarriage had fully retracted. Photos of this Ju 88 down on 8th October 1940 are on pages 574-576 of Luftwaffe Crash Archive Volume 5, published by Red Kite. I think this is where that item on e-bay is probably from. |
Re: Does this make sense?! Me110 shot down over Liverpool?!
Thanks chaps - thought it highly unlikely to be a 110.
