Marie Sylvester
I'm looking for information on Marie Sylvester (later named Marie Wright after marriage). Marie was born in 1924 in Jersey in the Channel Islands but later moved to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada with her family. During WW2 she took training through the BCATP and upon earning her pilot's wings was posted to Hornchurch where she ferried aircraft between RAF stations. It is said she flew 65 different makes of aircraft during the war.
Can anyone give me some leads for gathering more information about her war service? Neil |
Re: Marie Sylvester
Neil,
The Edmonton Journal would be a good place to start. Quite a few large articles on her over the years, my favourite being a story about her in 1996 flying in the bombardier's position of a B17. As she only passed in 2006 you'll have to wait until 2026 for any RCAF information. RAF quite a bit longer. Regards, Dave |

Thanks Dave & edwest2,
I've seen the article in Short Bursts and I'll try and get some info from the Edmonton Journal. Cheers, Neil |
