ID a pilot of a Spitfire
 

Oslo airport has a Spitfire (fs model) hanging from the ceiling. It is coded FN-W of 331 Sqd.

Who piloted this a/c?

Cato Guhnfeldt has written a monumental seven volume history about the Norwegian Hurricane/Spitfire squadrons in RAF during WW 2
In appx 2800 pages he goes through every mission flown and every single known aircraft to have been involved in said mission.

There were numerous FN-W and these aircraft were flown by many different pilots.

Sorry to say, I am not going through the books looking for every time FN-W is mentioned, you either have to buy the books, or download the ORB of 331 Sq

However if you are interested in a single particular day, I can look it up for you.

Much easier with an ID to work from. MA755 went on its first mission with 331Sq on Tuesday 27 July 1943 and was flown on that date by Fenrik (2/Lt) Björn Emil Fougner Stenstad and again on the 29th and the 31st with the same pilot.
On August 9th it was flown by Sersjant (Sergeant) Gregers Winther Gram and so on.

I have not gone through the books just to see if any pilots were actually assigned a given aircraft or not, but I don't believe so.

Le 14 août vers 15h30, alors qu'il attaque en rase-motte un convoi allemand aux commandes de son Spitfire au-dessus de Vilbert en Seine-et-Marne, il heurte de l'aile un arbre et s'écrase au sol un kilomètre plus loin. Tué sur le coup, le lieutenant Gouby est identifié par des habitants accourus sur les lieux qui recueillent ses papiers. Son corps, emporté par les Allemands qui le considère comme un aviateur anglais inconnu, est inhumé au cimetière de Coulommiers le 17 août.
