Bf-110E and F engine cowling
Someone please give me a light about the Bf-110E and F external cowling differences.
Several author states that the E subtype was similar of the previous models exept for the capabilities of using bombs or fuel under the wing. There were several pictures on Stefan Ommert book about 2(H)14 showing the F models , with deep oil cooler, ie 5F+SK , 5F+UK , 5F+DK , 5F+PK but if you check on 2(H)14 inventorie you will notice that the unit had NO F subtype on its strength. This unit left Africa on April 42 , so by that time the F subtype was just starting to be delivering. At Vasco book about ZG 1 there were several pictures showing F subtype using engine cowling similar to G models exept for the air scoup near the prop. My question is; The deep oil cooler belongs to E subtype or theF subtypes carries diferente typies of cowlings. Thanks in advance Eduardo. |

The deep oil cooler was on the E 'Trop' version.
Get hold of a copy of this and all is explained. The appendix at the back takes you through every variant and sub-variant, and the changes to the airframe at every step. https://i.imgur.com/F2ZbWYW.jpg |
