Rudy Schoenert
Can anybody advise as to what aircraft type Rudy Schoernet (II./NJG 5) flew on 2/3 August 1943 when he shot down a Halifax aircraft on a Hamburg raid.

Re: Rudy Schoenert
Good morning Andy,
I'm interested in Schoenert because he was the top-scoring Do 217 pilot. Why are you interested in him ? I wish you a good week, Michael |

Michael
Did you ever complete your list of Do 217 experten? Mindful NJ units only had a handful & the aircraft was not popular with crews, is your list Do 217 only or pilots who also flew the 217 as well as other types? |
Re: Rudy Schoenert
Hello Michael
I am researching the loss of Halifax HR917 which, according to Theo B, was probably shot down by Schoenert on 2/3 August 1943. I have seen that NJG 5 were equipped with both the Me110 and Do 217 at that time and so interested to find out which type of aircraft he was flying on that date Thanks again for your input Andy |
Re: Rudy Schoenert
Good evening Chris and Andy,
no, I don't have a list of the Do 217 top scorers. By heart I know only Schoenert (27), Radusch (at least 17) and Krause (17 or 19). Do you know more ? Have a nice New Year's Eve, Michael |
