Re: Brandl zg76
Found something on this old post (while searching the forum for something else...)
A Fw Bland of 6./ZG 76 claimed a B-17E shot down on 14/10/43. Is he the same guy as yours ? |
Re: Brandl zg76
Yes the same the absch. is listed in his log-book, the 13 th. the gruppe received visit of RM Göring, maybe that gave him spirit for the day after,
The day he was badly wound was 16. march 1944 remi |
Re: Brandl zg76
Remi,
It is not clear to me how Brandl would have become a PoW being shot down over Germany in March of 1944. Also at that time II./ZG 76 was equipped with the Bf 110 and would have used the four character tactical ID rather than a number. Do you have any information on any claims for Abschüsse made other than the one on 14 Oct 43? Thanks, Tom |
Re: Brandl zg76
Yes very strange indeed, just bad wounded not prisoner, but I confirm Sw5, from beg 44 they hv such STKZ prior they hv reg. ones not too much mission maybe a dozen some "treffers" in two, a vic in one ,ohne feinberühr. for the other till the last one brennend abgeschossen, no notizien from his BM Günther..
Carreer from oct 43 to march 44 |
Re: Brandl zg76
Hi RT,
Some other information from a post a few years ago -- In the period 1942-43, Karl Brandl served as a pilot with 1./ZG1 and Panzerjagerstaffel 110 in Russia. It would seem that he moved to II./ZG76 in autumn 1943 when the unit was formed. Do you have any information on his subsequent wartime career / fate? Thanks Andre Stewart |
