Mexican AF Colonel in North Africa 1943
Hello To all
Trying to located information on a crash in which Coronel. P.A. Antonio Cardenas Rodriguez of the Mexican Air Force was involved and was injured which he wrote about in his book "Mis Dos Misiones" (My Two Missions) after his time with the 97th (H) Bomb Group in late May 1943 ,he went to observed training in the northwest African training command and to a OTU at Sale near RABAT in French Morocco. He wrote he was part of a crew of a Martin B-26 that had issues on take off and crashed, with some crew member including himself injured and spend some time in the hospital before returning to Mexico in July. I have not found any information on any B-26 crashes so far..... any help would be appreciated. (He did not write the date of the accident) Cheers Santiago |
Re: Mexican AF Colonel in North Africa 1943
Santiago,
Presuming it was a USAAF B-26, then the 319th Bomb Group was briefly based at Rabat (Sale) in the period May-June 1943 before returning to combat missons. Regards, Leendert |
