Capt. Dennis C. Hallquist USMC
Hi,
Someone would have information about Dennis C. Hallquist career, who served in WWII and the Korean War? And photos? In World War II he flew the F4U Corsair on the VMF-113 and there is a citation of a supposed victory (or shared victory) over a D4Y Suisei on June 9, 1945 (in: Kamikazes, Corsairs, and Picket Ships Okinawa, 1945, by RL Rielly). And in the Korean War he flew the F4U in the VMF-323 in 1951. I wanted more information about his participation in World War II, when he won a DFC. Thanks a lot! |
Re: Capt. Dennis C. Hallquist USMC
No help with his career, but Frank Olynyk does not credit him with anything. Not in WW 2 and not in Korea.
On June 9th, only one pilot from VMF-113 claimed a victory and that was Capt William Andrew Baldwin some 10km NE of Pt. Able at 19.40H. Aircraft was a Judy so the type at least is correct Cheers Stig |
Re: Capt. Dennis C. Hallquist USMC
Reading the account in Rielly it seems that Hallquist did not start shooting until the D4Y was about to crash. The Marine Air Group 22 Diary mentions Baldwin only in connection with the victory.
