You're welcome. It seems the war was a bit more elaborate as opposed to its portrayal in 1960s movies.

A close neighbor had a relative from Italy visit in 1978. He told us of messages written on board lumber imported from ussr. In Italian, from non repatriated pow's. Names, units, and (then) 30 year old addresses. Some from his county. Uncertain as to any follow up by 'authorities'.
