NAG 13 (Guernsey) on 07/01/44

Hello
Who claimed 3 Typhoon near Guernsey? It's not very clear in T.Wood list.

Oblt Ludwig Klink 2 Staffel, Oblt Friedrich Gündel Stab and an Ofw said to be Niense (?). Only loss was Flt Lt J Crabb of 193 Sqn. I wonder if Niense is Robert Heichele?

The names of the three claimants from NAG 13 were Oblt. Ludwig Klink - 2./13 -, Oblt. Friedrich Gundel - Stab/13 - and Obfw. Joachim Riewe - 2./13 -.

Thanks Jochen. That makes sense-he was a long serving member of NAG 13. Whilst on the subject, who, in addition to Lt Günter John got a Spitfire on 8 Mar 44? I cannot match a Maschler with any known pilot

Chris, I have Lt. Gerhard Wächtler from 2./13 with a Spitfire at 19.04 hrs in 04 Ost/8335, which would make it northwest of Calvi, Corsica. I haven't checked the whereabouts, but I hope it helps. BTW - Lt. John's claim was made at 17.50 hrs in 04 Ost/8345.

Thanks Jochen. I believe they had moved to Cuers by then which explains the location

Thanks guys for this information.

About 8/03/44,J have 2./NAGr12 (not NAGr13?) for the claims of John and Wächter and not officially approved (VNE-ASM)

Yet,one of the two (wich one?) seems to correspond to the spit:52°FG USAAF,2/lT Benjamin W.Jones (W.Corsica)

Hi All,

possibly Ofw. Riewe was lost on a mission October 9th 44.
Can someone confirm the date?
Best regards

Rolf

With a lack of an NVM it is possible he was uninjured or unwounded

I think you have a typo somewhere. NAGr. 12 shouldn't have been anywhere near Corsica, they were based in Yugoslavia.

Add to that: on 12.4.44 Leutnant Wächtler* of 2./NAG 13 went missing near Bastia, Corsica (Bf 109 G-6 W.Nr. 15583, red 9).

* The spelling in my notes but probably a typo of my own.
