RAF Helmet with Symbol
2 Attachment(s)
Hi, This helmet is dated 1939 and believed to be RAF or attributed to maybe a Squadron. Can any of you experts confirm or tell what this is/means. The symbol on the back and on the front of the helmet is the same. It is a letter C with what looks like lightening coming from it.
Thanks in advance |
Re: RAF Helmet with Symbol
It's a Mk. II Brodie helmet and personally I don't think it's RAF. I think it's far more likely to have come from one of the civil defence units or related repair and reconstruction services.

Re: RAF Helmet with Symbol
That's a weird one - the symbol is reminiscent of the US Constabulary, which policed the US zone of occupation in Germany just after the war.
Pat Edit: should say, I doubt this is the answer, though! Lightning flash reversed, and... on a Brodie? |
Re: RAF Helmet with Symbol
I agree the helmet resembles a Civil Defence helmet i through out after clearing out the late mother in laws home. Its was painted the same grey but with insignia!
