No Safe Haven by George Glenton
Has anyone seen or read a copy of the book "No Safe Haven - told for the first time - an epic story of endurance by the Allied Merchant Fleet in the Mediterranean - from the Barbary Coast to Bari - 1942 to 1944" by George Glenton? I believe George served aboard the Dutch cargo ship - SS Odysseus - during WW2 and wrote about his experiences. The SS Odysseus was one of the ships in Bari harbor when it was bombed by the Luftwaffe on Dec. 2, 1943. I was wondering if the book contained much information about that incident.

I can't answer your question but I am intrigued enough by the description that I went ahead and ordered a used copy. Thanks for the post.
"Glenton served on the Dutch flagged fuel carrier Odysseus and after the war became a well-known journalist. His autobiographical story is used as a metaphor for the tribulations of the Merchant Marine." |
