Bf 109E photo (poss. JG 26)

2 Attachment(s)
This is a picture from eBay (flitzimw). My guess would be a Bf 109E of Ergänzungsstaffel/JG 26, emergency-landed on the 25th of February 1941.

Is this possible? Looking forward to your responses. Also, can someone decipher the hand-writing?

Kind regards,
Timon

EJGr. Merseburg.
Regards,
Franck.
PS: and it's clearly written 1940 (first line)

December 1940 (?)

I think the first line looks like Dezember 1940.

Not quite sure.

Thanks for the replies. I still believe the picture was taken in the Netherlands, because all pictures I came across on the eBay page were taken in the Netherlands...

Yes, it was taken in the Netherlands: Venlo (or Amsterdam, not very cristal clear, they aren't close places though :) ) but

the unit is what I wrote above.

This is an EJGr. Merseburg machine, not Erg.JG26. Markings are those of EJGr. Merseburg: i.e. White 8 + -" on both sides. you read it from LEFT to RIGHT on both sides.
As far I know there is no other unit with such typical markings Here all the photos you can find about it:
me109.info/web.php?a=e&n=ua&f=825
As I told you : Venlo. which is close to German border.

If it is Venlo then perhaps Marcel Hogenhuis knows more I as i recall from memory he
was a member of the studie groep Venlo airfield.

Re: Bf 109E photo (poss. JG 26)

Timon,
I have to apologize and recognize you're right.
EJGr. Merseburg was closed on 15 November 1940 so if the said accident occurred in December 1940 this machine wasn't an EJGr. Machine any more since "all machines were dispatched among diverse JG units".
The hangar we can see on one of the photos is a Schiphol hangar, 100%.
This explains - but it was an old shot and I didn't remember well - why there was a Venlo/Amsterdam in my original caption.
See my comments about "Schwarze 12" in Facebook too.
Thanks again Timon.
Regards,
Franck.
