Chongqing - Koen-Sa Airfield
In the ETH Zürich library there are some interesting photos from the travels of Jean de Voyod in China. Most are from 'Koen-Sa' airfield, on an island in the Yangtse 18 km downstream from Chongqing. Clearly this island is Guangyangba ( 29°34'03.3"N 106°42'39.5"E ) and when you google that it comes up as the site of Chongqing's first airfield.
Koen-Sa is a French spelling, my question is, what would the old English and modern Chinese names be? I see nothing similar on Google or Bing Maps. I gather that the Flying Tigers used another island upstream from Chongqing, Dazhongcun. Any information on Jean de Voyod is also appreciated. Thanks Peter |
Re: Chongqing - Koen-Sa Airfield
Peter,
Just a thought, but wouldn't the airfield also be in use during the Sino Japanese War and as a consequence you might at least with regard to the modern Chinese and old English names for the airfield be more likely to find the information on the Japanese and Allied airforces in the Pacific forum? Regards, Clint |
Re: Chongqing - Koen-Sa Airfield
Hi Clint,
Yes, probably. I'll move there if I have no luck here. Thanks. Peter |
