Photo Impressed French Aircraft ID?
 

Hello,


Currently on ebay is an impressed french machine at:

Can anyone assist with the id please?


In the background is Morane Saulnier MS.149 F-AMVV in case this helps in identifying the unit operating either machine.




Also, may or maay not be relevant, but the same seller has a photo of damaged German aircraft CG+HW, if this helps in determining the location.

I've been searching for high wing french prewar aircraft.Not that I'm certain, and I'm probably mistaken, but could the aircraft shown be the S.E.C.A.T. S.4 Mouette, or S.E.C.A.T. VI?

For me, it’s a Potez 36. Not really a warhorse... Since every flying aircraft was impressed, and a lot of times to be never flown after, this one, with the civilian color scheme, was perhaps not used by the Air Force.

Thanks for the response. You are indeed correct. Its a Potez 36/14 I guess.


I do however have several of the Potez 36/13 in service with military units.Admittedly a different version,but it therefore doesn't seem inherently unlikely that the machine shown operated with a military unit, particularly has it has received both roundels and a tricolor on the rudder.


On a seperate point, can you decipher the writing on the aileron at all?

If it's important to you, you could purchase this picture - probably very cheap, like 1-5 euros. On the original pictures you often can see details which are much clearer (but I can't promise anything…).

Thanks, your thought is not without merit. My fear is not so much whether its clearer with the actual photo to hand, but whether I can read the cursive script at all, as the photo on ebay is reasonably clear just difficult (for me at least) to read.

Putting that section of the image into photo editing software and using the distort function it reveals that the word is "Antiolaiss", Greek for you're right.

Thanks for running the image though photo editing. Using the information you provided I checked Potez 36.14s listed on airhistory.org.uk/gy/home.html. Could the word be Artigalas as Potez 36.14 F-ALFY was owned by a M Artigalas?
