Photo Dorand

Hello,

Currently on ebay is a photo of an engineless Dorand AR-1 at:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1917-WWI-US...sAAOSw42Feu0Kt

Unusual is the date on the nose of the aircraft.

Regards,

Clint

Re: Photo Dorand

Hello

Yes, it's the insignia of the AR 230.

The plane is named "Lulu", but I can not find further information based on that.

Hello,

Currently on ebay are two photos of Dorand AR-1 aircraft at :

https://www.ebay.fr/itm/393448165791...sAAOSwbT1g8tmk

https://www.ebay.fr/itm/313609893365...QAAOSww3pg9t4Z

The first machine was flown by AR.22,but the second machine, serial number 81 is more tricky. Can anyone identify the markings.

Clint

Re: Photo Dorand

Indeed very tricky Clint

The only unit I could locate using such a divided pennant was Esc 12, but they never used
any AR types.

Sorry

Re: Photo Dorand

Hi Stig,

Thanks for the reply.I have been looking through units known to have operated the AR.1 and while I I fear it is probably not significant, Albin Denis' page for AR16 has a photo of an AR.1 with the same diagonal band as the one on ebay, but no sign of the two coloured pennon, so may not be relevant.

Clint
