Mosquito Raids Over Berlin
In the same period that Bomber Command's Main Force flew the 16 missions to Berlin (between 18/19 November 1943 - 24/25 March 1944 in the Battle for Berlin) Mosquito's flew (in addition to those 16) a further 16 nuisance raids.
Does anyone know from what Squadrons, and what Group, those Mosquito's were from? |
Re: Mosquito Raids Over Berlin
Have you seen Martin Middlebrook's "The Berlin Raids", Jim?
It was available in paperback and Middlebrook's books seem to be reprinted fairly regulalry in the UK. His style is big on personal accounts from those involved but he also has appendices of losses, orders of battle etc. |
Re: Mosquito Raids Over Berlin
Hi Jim,
I trust you know this site. It may not give the sqns involved, but a very good overall perspective on the individual raids. http://www.raf.mod.uk/bombercommand/diary.html This site will give an impression of the claims by the Lw against those raids: http://www.lesbutler.ip3.co.uk/tony/tonywood.htm This site specifies losses by type and unit, another excellent lead: http://www.lostbombers.co.uk/results...ito&pagefrom=1 bregds SES www.gyges.dk |
Re: Mosquito Raids Over Berlin
Hi Nick, thanks for that recommendation. I haven't seen Middlebrook's book, sounds just like what I'm after. Cheers. :)
Hi SES, I hadn't come across that third link you posted. thanks very much. :) |
Re: Mosquito Raids Over Berlin
Hi Jim,
Glad to be of help. That list is most probably not all encompassing, but you should be able to identify 95% of the units involved. bregds SES |
