Claim by Glunz 12 Feb 42
Fw Adolf Glunz claimed a Spitfire east of Eu at 1708 hrs on 12 Feb 42 (he had taken off at 1700, landed 1740 hrs). This would make the crash on land. John Foreman has suggested Plt Off I S Stone of 118 Sqn but he is missing as opposed to killed or POW. Any thoughts?

Re: Claim by Glunz 12 Feb 42
Hi Chriss,
there is info from my old file: Pilot Officer I S Stone (RNZAF) - service number NZ.41501 http://www.rafcommands.com/database/serials/AD239 Spitfire Mk. VB AD239 - "HOELOESOENGAI (N.E.I.)" from this link: https://fyldebbmfund.wordpress.com/g...ion-spitfires/ My notice: strike again e-boats close to Ostend - check losses of 234. SQ and 118. SQ again claims - but unfortunately not finished from my side. Faenor |

Re: Claim by Glunz 12 Feb 42
Hi
There is a CasPack covering the loss of Ivan Stone: AIR 81/12131 "Pilot Officer I S Stone (RNZAF): missing believed killed; Spitfire AD239, 118 Squadron; aircraft failed to return from an attack on German warships Prinz Eugen, Scharnhorst and Gneisnau (Operation Fuller) in the English Channel, 12 February 1942" Not much use in the present lockdown, but perhaps someone here has already reviewed or copied it. Niall: Thanks for this. My interest is not in Stone per se but who Glunz might have got over land. It would now appear that Stone came down in the sea
