Re: Photos 8-23

The third ME 109 photo collection has a plane which looks like black one and has Medittrainian theatre band on the fuselage, can anyone identify it, the unit and the time please.

Apart from the colour it has similar markings to one I am trying to identify.

Rick Maccullagh

Re: Photos 8-23

Can you tell me if any JG 53 planes were in the region of Nort Africa from July 1941 until March 1942.

Could they have operated from Italy /Sicily during this time ?.

Thanks

What a beautiful Ar 96!

And no, not a Fw 189 with nose art, just a Si 204 from a school...

JG 53 operated against Malta from December 1941 to May 1942, of course from Sicily (Gela, Comiso airstrips)

I think it is a Caudron Luciole, but I can't identify the precise sub-type.

Re: Photos 8-23

Von Alles,

Thanks for your reply.

I have a belly landed 109 that I am trying to identify that has similar markings to the plane in question except it looks like yellow 9 with the group bar being red or yellow.

It was photographed at El Adem a/f christmas 1941 (see http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/attach...2&d=1152015559 ).

Is it possible to be from this unit.

Regards

Rick
