A "schwarm" (Otto Kittel,Lt Karl Bytomski,Ofhr Oscar Renner,Uffz Gerhard Kreibich) takes off from Zabeln to conduct a free hunt,sector of Tukums.

Testimony of Lt Karl Bytomski:
"In bad weather,we started a fight at low altitude with 23 Il-2 having a escort.
My 'rottenführer' was Oblt Kittel.May before the fight (1),the plane of Kittel left suddenly at an angle of 30°-35°,then hit the ground;he must have been fatally struck by the Flak.

(1) BEFORE THE FIGHT:words are important;Kittel was shot down before the fight.
The version of Bytomski (witness)contradicts that issued as what Kittel would have claimed its 267° Abchusse that day before being shot down:Il-2 12h15 witness Georg Zeider....?? the Georg Zeidler? KIA on 18/09/44 NO Jelgava (Mittau)!!

There was a fantastic thread here, some time ago....of the Team who found the wreck of Oblt KITTEL.

Have your read it? Maybe the answers are still preserved onto the wreck of the machine...number of hits, in which parts of the Fw 190...etc.

However, may I ask you a Historically point: When was the testimony of Lt. Bytomski recorded? After the war? Is this some kind of Diary? Or interview??
