Re: Stirling BK716
NICK fantastic finding.
His son surely must be happy...it is huge the efforts held in Europe, in Russia and the USA to preserve the deeds and, sadly, the sacrifice of so many youngsters and fellows who did the utmost for a better world. By the way, BK716 was claimed by who? A Flak claim or a NJG pilot claim? Adriano |
Re: Stirling BK716
Latest research shows that this is the matching NJ claim, no Flak involved:
Lt. Werner Rapp: 4 7./NJG1 Stirling 2-4 km ESE Marken Island (Hase): 4.300 m. 04.49 Cheers, Theo |
Re: Stirling BK716
Originally thought to be BK710 for which a memorial was erected, due to 6 being read as a 0. The relatives on the still missing aircraft have taken the news well and won't give up hope for their relatives.

Re: Stirling BK716
Dutch newspaper(s) of 20 Sept report that human remains were found in the salvage operation of BK716.
Further investigation by Dutch army specialists will examine if (the) crew members are involved. Results will be sent to the British MOD upon which and after approval preparations for a formal reburial can take place. This all may take a while. Family of the 7 crew (RAF, RCAF) are notified of the findings so far. Regards, Leendert |
