some losses from Ehrengard's book “Normandie-Niemen”
Good health to all.
Could anybody, please, help me with the next question: In Ehrengard's book “Normandie-Niemen”, in the chapter about the battle in October 1944 in East Prussia, the following losses of german pilots are mentioned: 1) 20.10.44 Hptm Schossbig (probably it is Oblt. Schlotte?), I./SG.4, Fw 190 - ? – no source 2) 23.10.44 Uffz. Fischer, II./SG.4, Fw 190, MIA 3) 24.10.44 ffw Koslawski II./SG 4, Fw 190, MIA In the last two cases, reference is made to some memories of Maj. Dedeliknd from II./SG.4 (does anyone know if they are online?) The question is: are these real people? Does anybody have any details about them? Thanks in advance |

Re: some losses from Ehrengard's book “Normandie-Niemen”
Many thanks to Rüdiger, Matti and Kristen! So the pilots are real, but the names are spelled wrong. Rüdiger, I think that the place of Gnadenheim is correct, but this is not Balaschowka. Balaschowka, as far as I understand, is a place in Ukraine, an old German colony, but Gnadenheim is also a village in East Prussia where SG4 was acting at that time. It's just a little clarification.

Re: some losses from Ehrengard's book “Normandie-Niemen”
Once again to "Hptm Schossbig" )
III./SG4 Kriegstagebuch has mention about Haupmann Schossig (22.10.44 vermisst). From deZeng & Stankey issue: "09.10.44 trf from I./SG 4 to III./SG 4.22.10.44Hptm., Stab II./SG 4 MIA - Fw 190 F-8 (Black 6)shot down by AA 10 km S of Gumbinnen." So this name is also real! Thanks to all again. |
