German defence again RAF raid December 5th 1944
 

Hi,

Trying to determine what Luftwaffe units were involved in apposing the Bomber Command daylight raid on the Marshalling Yards at Hamm, December 5th 1944. Reports suggest that Bf109s got in amongst a number of 3 Group Lancaster's.

Any details welcome.

Hello Steve,

according to JFV 13/II and 13/V all four groups of JG 27 and the IV./JG 54 were involved in opposing the Bomber Command daylight raid:
I./JG 27 1 claim (Spitfire), 3 Bf 109 losses
II./JG 27 1 claim (P-51), 5 Bf 109 losses
III./JG 27 no claim, 1 Bf 109 loss
IV./JG 27 1 claim (Spitfire), 3 Bf 109 losses
IV./JG 54 no claim, 1 Fw 190 loss.
