Fw 200 loss confusion
Can someone clear up the identities of two Condors lost during May and June '41.
Foreman, 1941: The Turning Point, Vol. 2, notes the following 21/5/41 Fw 200C-3 WNr. 0061 (F8+KL) crashed on take-off at Rennes 20% 15/6/41 Fw 200C-3 WNr. 0061 (F8+KL) crashed off the Portugese coast near Monre 100% I'm not so worried about the Vkz., it's the WNr.s that don't add up. I checked Blitz V.3 and neither date lists an entry, though there is an entry for a WNr. 60 (F8+DH) lost on 19/5/41 and an unidentified loss in the Atlantic on 30/6/41 (any details on this?) Any help would be appreciated regards Adam |
Re: Fw 200 loss confusion
Hi, Adam
Cannot see the problem here... in the first loss occuring on May 21st 1941, the aircraft was damaged 20% in a take-off accident at Bordeaux airfield. http://www.ahs.no/ref_db/lw_loss_pub...?lossid=109431 The repair was then carried out in the subsequent weeks. Then, some four weeks later it was noted as a total loss off the Portuguese coast. http://www.ahs.no/ref_db/lw_loss_pub...?lossid=109432 Regards, Andreas |
