Hauptmann Hans Werner Rupprecht - 5/NJG1
 

Hiya,

Does anyone have a photo - open source of either aircraft or of Haupt Hans Werner Rupprecht - 5/NJG1, he was flying Bf110G-4, G9+EN.

I believe he was shot down west of Abbensen, think this was in 1942? not sure of the date?

Hi ,

You probably will have this :

Rupprecht 04/03/1918 , KIA , 27/08/1943 near Abbensen 20 km north east of Wunstorf by W/C Hoare " Sammy " 605 sqdn , Uffz Franz Vornhusen was also killed , tyhe flew with Me-110 WNr 5350 G9+KZ from 5./NJG 1 - Rupprecht flew this night of his claim with G9+EC vanaf Brustem , take off 0238 uur , used 719 MG cartridges and 181 20 mm shells . According to the Volksbund Rupprecht seems to be buried at Siekierki Poland

According to Balss, Ruprecht was lost 27/28 Sep 1943 in WNr 5360 (not 5350)
coded G9+KZ

Alain, what is the meaning with G9+EC given in your answer?

Can someone please advise which is the correct WNr?

What also puzzles me is if he crashed, how they devil would they be able to work out ammunition used?

Yes, it was 1943. I have the combat report for this engagement. I agree, alot of detail with the rounds fired.

I would be very grateful if you could confirm if the serial was either Me-110 WNr 5350 G9+KZ, or G9+EC?

I think at this point Balss' book is outdated, because Balss also provides an Excel database (which is for sale) and which has Bf 110 G-4 W.Nr. 5350 and code G9+EN. Sources are:

Well I have already paid Balss for two of his books and I have opted not to pay anything further for his other works....

Let's be fair and say printing error in his first book, but it is fascinating to see he now has changed the code "as per the book", ie +EN (corresponding to the 5th Staffeln).

I wonder where he got G9+KZ in the first place and also where Alain got G9+EC from?
Is it a question of going to Specsavers all of us????

Considering your somewhat hesitant approach, from where did you get G9+EN, which now at least seems to be the ultimate code.....or is it??

Hello,

Checked Bf110 G-4 Wnr. 5360 but this Bf110 was in service with 8./NJG 1 when it made a belly landing on 5th May 1943, damage 35%. It is not likely that this Bf110 was transferred to another Gruppe unless it was a school unit.

Bf110 G-4 Wnr. 5350 has the number mentioned in the Namentliche Verlustmeldung AND the GQM-lists. The loss date is given as 27/28 September 1943.

which are not completely without errors but preferable as sources because this is the primary stuff, not the books published afterwards.
