Chuck Yeager

Sadly passed away aged 97. Frank has added him to his American aces who have died in 2020 as well.

Re: Chuck Yeager

He was a gracious man. Welcomed me and my best friend (the only LW vet ever invited) at a 357 reunion in 1991. They had met years before when Yeager was stationed in Germany, at a hunt party and though they were now much older, still remembered him.
Mr. Y grew up quite poor, but made his way without any complaints, to contribute to society.
He as well began a charitable organization, for the real underprivileged, from rural areas.
At the reunion, he actually put on a flying display with mr. Anderson and another 357 pilot in a P-51 D. Astounding.

I had the pleasure of meeting him and many other 357th FG veterans and aces at their 1993 reunion in Long Beach....to which the association kindly invited me. I will never forget these precious moments.....RIP ....
