FW 200 crashed 17.03.1941 in France
Hello,
On 17th of March 1941, a FW 200 crashed at PLOGOFF (North of Brittany). 5 crewmen instantly died in the crash, the 6th one, seriously injured, didn't survived his wounds. I search the following info about the loss of this aircraft ant its crew : - unit - base of taking off - mission - cause of the crash - forming of the crew (name, first name, date of birth, rank and function in the plane) Any additional info about this crash would interest me. Thanks in advance Pierre BABIN |

I have the loss of FW 200 C-3, 0041, SG+KQ of I/KG 40 on 18 March 41 50 km south of Brest. Lt Hans Winkler-F, Oblt Helmut Nitsch-F, Uffz Nikolaus Kleinert-BF, Gefr Wilhelm Harding-BF, Fw Anton Langner-BM killed; Reg Rat Hermann Haller-Met injured. Believe it was on weather recce (hence the Met Man) and cause is not given-no RAF claims. Base would have probably been Merignac

This is a bit old but time to resurrect. Some records say this ac crashed at Audierne as opposed to Plogoff? Can anyone confirm?

2 ac took off at 0400 and 0547 hrs on 17 March. One of them crashed at 1600 hrs in PlQ 5978/14W (need to look this location up). 1 man rescued badly wounded , remainder baled out over the sea (?) and were killed after which ac crashed

Re: FW 200 crashed 17.03.1941 in France
Not directly related to this crash but I have a " Einsatz " report from 15.2.41 which lists Reg Rat. Haller as one of the crew of Fw200 " F8+BL" .The commander was Oblt. Schlosser and the pilot was Fw. Karl Macht .
Chris, have you any idea if Hermann Haller survived the war ? |
