A6M2 Model 21

Something I don't understand.
According to the usual JNAF practice, the first digit of the Model designation was changed when a new engine was installed and the second digit when the airframe was modified.
AFAIK the difference between Model 11 and Model 21 lies only in the latter's manually folding wing-tips. Thus, this version should have been called Model 12 and not Model 21!
Where do I go wrong?
Thanks.

From left to right:

first digit = airframe
second digit = engine

Model 21

To illustrate:

Model 11 - Sakae 12 + non foldling wing

Model 21 - Sakae 12 + folding wingtips

Model 32 - Sakae 21 + clipped wings

Model 22 - engine as 32 + wings as 21

Model 52 - refined fuselage and clipped wings + Sakae 21

Thanks, Ruy.
You know that we, French, drive on the "wrong side" of the road...

Indeed.
How can a right side go wrong? I "left" it to you...
