Home by Christmas?: The story of US airmen at war / Martin W. Bowman Hello/Bonjour, Within the framework of a research work on the June 12, 1944 mission over Rennes, Brittany/France I am looking for copy of chapter 12 “The saga of Squat N' Droppit” in Martin W. Bowman’s book “Home by Christmas?: The story of US airmen at war”. Chapter related to the loss of this bomber that day. I thank you beforehand for your help. Best regards, Frederic |

Re: Home by Christmas?: The story of US airmen at war / Martin W. Bowman The book may be available to read on-line ("renewable" 1 hour loans) or can be "borrowed" for 14 days. https://archive.org/details/homebychristmass0000bowm Read the "i" tab for how the system works. |

Re: Home by Christmas?: The story of US airmen at war / Martin W. Bowman Hello/Bonjour RSwank, Thank you for this message and the link. In fact, while doing a new search on the web, I found the website that offered this book on loan...and I registered. I now have what I wanted to carry on my research work, my story about the loss of this B-24 bomber. By the way, many helpers names are misspelled, as some French village names. Best regard, Frederic |

Re: Home by Christmas?: The story of US airmen at war / Martin W. Bowman Good luck in your research. The misspellings probably come from the original E & E reports. As you no-doubt know, the MACR for the crash is available for free here: https://catalog.archives.gov/id/90989149 and the seven Escape and Evasion reports (numbers 873, 895-900) are also available for free online here: https://catalog.archives.gov/id/305270 |

Re: Home by Christmas?: The story of US airmen at war / Martin W. Bowman Three photos of the nose of the plane here: https://search.freefind.com/find.htm...query=41-28710 (I was expecting some cartoon nose art. ;-) |

Re: Home by Christmas?: The story of US airmen at war / Martin W. Bowman Hello/Bonjour RSwank, Thanks for the link, I should soon have one of them in better quality because I was able to get in touch with the family of one of the aircrew members. Best regards, Frederic |
