Bf109E "weisse 2" Greece 1941 7./JG 26

Hello all!
These two pics of a Bf 109E were taken 1941 in Greece, unit should be 7./JG 26, lead by the famous Joachim Müncheberg. This Staffel was stationed at Molaoi, Southern Greece in May/June 1941 to fight against Malta.

Is it possible to identify the pilot of this "weisse 2" (white 2) with one victory sign on the tailfin? I'm also interested what happened to the aircraft.
Thanks in advance!

BTW: The tractor is a HANOMAG SR45.

Hi bakermann,

Your pictures are not from Molai, a hangar din`t exist in this airfield. Maybe Sicily

Klaus Mietusch?
If so, before 26 February 1941 at Gela.
A Bf 109 E-7/N, indeed.

Franck.

Mietusch got his 3rd on 26 Feb 41 so maybe not his plane?

Hi,
Ofw.Ernst Laube could also be the pilot in the photo. Without a better scan, we won't find out the truth.
I think that the Bf 109E "weisse 2" aircraft was flown by more pilots. I'm not convinced that each pilot only had "his personal" plane.
Regards Tony

An excerpt from David Caldwell's JG 26 War Diary, Part 1, page 105.

It is possible that the pilot was Oblt. Klaus Mietusch, although to my eyes, it does not look like him, but could be some other pilot as well. The aircraft seems freshly painted, without the exhaust stain, so the photo may have been taken shortly on the Staffel's arrival to Gela.
