W/Cdr Craven Goring Hohler

Hi guys

Evidently from an old English family of German ancestry. Interesting set of names!

Newly appointed CO of 148 Squadron when lost on a ferry flight Malta-Kabrit late 1940.

Stay safe
Brian

Brian,

CWGC has quite a few Gorings

Most interesting are two RAF airmen taken POW - must have been interesting interrogation experience..

Marius Goring (1912–1998) was a well-known British film and TV actor. Wikipedia quotes an interview of his: "Goring is a completely English name". There is also the village of Goring-on-Thames in Oxfordshire, which sounds about about as English as you can get.

Agnes Venetia Goring (his mother) doesn't sound very German neither does his father!
