Which was the first USAAF unit in Engeland to operate the P-51D?

It is very difficult to precisely give an authoritative answer to this as the Group and Squadron records do not uniformly give when the early Ds were deployed to a Group/Squadron and then flown in combat. My best guess would be the 4th FG was first but there are scattered instances of the 339th, 354th and 363rd FGs during the first two weeks of June 1944. There could be others but I don't have the documentation for this right at hand. Ted51
