Two B-17s on March 15 1945
Hello,
I am looking for exact crash-places of two B-17s, 42-97683 (352nd BS, 301st BG) and 44-6555 (772nd BS, 463rd BG). I am interesting as well if somebody know which target those planes bombed on March 15 1945, Ruhland nearby Dresden or Kolín in Central Bohemia? Thanks for help Michal |
Re: Two B-17s on March 15 1945
According to Kenn Rust " 15th Air Force Story " :
March 15 , 1945: 109 B -17s Dispatched to Bomb Ruhland. Cheers |
Re: Two B-17s on March 15 1945
Yes, they were dispatched to bomb Ruhland, but in fact one part (109 B-17s of 99th, 301st, 463rd and 483rd BGs) bombed Ruhland and second part (103 B-17s of 2nd, 97th, 99th, 301st, 463rd and 483rd BGs) bombed Kolín.
It does mean planes of 301st and 463rd BGs attacked both targets and I would like to determine which target attacked directly those two crashed planes. Could somebody help me? Michal |

Michal,
I have some details regarding these day's losses, but must digging a lot for them. IIRC one B-17 emergency landed behind the Soviet lines on that day (maybe one of the asked Fortresses). See you soon, Csaba |
