Searching among the death cards, when name is known, easy, if name spelled right, but with the unit ? the place ?...

Units is poor, places is a mess....last name is more or less the best option....

Hi Remi,

select "death date" in filter and then sort it out according to "oldest first". Airmen were born mostly betwen 1910 and 1923.
Or select "death date" and then "death place".

Ok, regarding keywords what is relevant, unit seems not, any ideas ?

Location is not bad, but it certainly give you only a few hits. Many names are incorrectly spelled. Not sure what you are looking for.

I've sometimes found it helpful to check the person out on the Volksbund Gräbersuche Online database to get a date of birth, then use that as one of the search filters on Fold3.

Also if someone doesn't show up as Hans, try Johannes; similarly Fritz/Friedrich, Alois/Aloysius etc.

Right the second names hans/johann...fritz ..willy., often find better way with the more 'convenient' one, but , for example , I couldn't find the Hptm Siegfried Mahrenholz/von Mahrenholz, he was Gr.Kdr , nd certainly his death/on 9.April 40/ was not remainded unknown !!!

Mahrenholtz is in there, but under other first name. Gustav-Paul. Three cards in total. Correct DoB and correct KIA date. Just try "Mahrenholtz" only.

Please note that the WASt-Gräberkartei is far from complete.
