Painting of 2./NAGr 13, 8/44-04/45

Hi All,
I want to make a profile of a Messerschmitt Me 109 G-8, in the colours of 2./NAGr 13. I intend to publish a small book about this unit, especially in the time frame frame August 44 - April 45.
I have only limited information as I know only one photo durch specific time frame.
Is there any info available about exact painting and colours used?

Thanks a lot in advance
Rolf

Hallo Rolf,

That's project of yours about NAGr 13 seems quite interesting...Surely some of the members can be of help onto it.

I do remember a propaganda picture taken in France of their Fw 190 A-4 in colour (you must know which is)...but never saw a similar shot of their Bf 109 G-8. (see here: http://silverhawkauthor.com/german-w...e_version=true)

It is not known if they painted theirs like NAGr 12 for instance. I also only saw one single Bf 109 G-8 photograph on a detailed Bf 109 book (not sure, by heart and memory now, if Prien's work - I guess)

Cutting Edge CED48068 do deal with LW Reconaissance planes on 1/48 Scale...

Keep us informed about this work, all right?

Adriano

As Rolf knows, a very rare unit and although I have photos, few show Bf 109s in any great detail. As usual they had more things to do (like surviving!) than taking photos in this period

According to the Gen. QM, on 13 February 1945, 2./NAG 13, Bf 109 G-6 W.Nr. 202113: Bruchlandung inf. Motorstörung, 40%.

This aircraft was photographed on the scap heap at Bonn-Hangelar by the US Army in early March. (see attached detail). In the Technical Intelligence report it was recorded on as Bf 109, 202113.

They may have several patters of camouflage, in my humble opinion and from the very few photos I have seen...

I do have one of Hptm Gerhard Dickenbrock boarding his Fw 190 A-4 in France....the sole one of NAGr 13.

Again, do keep us informed about your work and when it will be available...and good luck for you and this new book!

A.

Hi All,
many thanks for your replies. I t helps a lot and let me share my thoughts and info I have right now with you.
1. The unit received new G-8 and G-6 in August 44 in Landsberg. So I beleive I need to find pics dated from August 44 onwards.
1. There is one pic availabe, showing the G-8 of Arthur Böse who was shot down by AAA in France dated 27.11.44 https://me109.info/display.php?from=...otonummer=3495
2. I found 2 profiles of G-8 and both showing th Black 11 and S/N 201765. The S/N and Black 11 fits to Arthur Böse - see pic in attached link above.
3. Based on another link (Luftarchiv.de) the color codes of reconnaissance planes in 44/45 had 3 possible color schemes with 3 colors each. This were a: 70/71/65, b: 74/75/76 and c: 81/82/76.
I will attach the profiles but need to manage storage first.
Is it possible to define the color code based on the pic showing the G-8 of Böse with the combination of the possible color codes?
Thanks a lot in advance
Rolf

Hi Nick,
thanks a lot for the pic which is new to me.

For the February 13 1945 I have only one loss at that day. This was Scheurer, KIA with the G-8, S/N 230167. Are you sure the pic showing a G-8 of the 2./NAGr 13?
Bonn is app. 350 miles apart from Donaueschingen and it wonders me if they flew that far. This also because the 3./NAGr 13 was much closer to Bonn at that time. I never saw the Gen. QM. for Feb. 13th 45.
Thanks a lot in advance
Rolf

Hi Adriano,
thanks again for your support.
In August 44 the 2. Staffel was in Landsberg for about 4 weeks to exchange all Fw 190 to Messerschmett G-8 and G-6. So most probably the color scheme changed in that month because all planes were changed.
Regarding my book, I wnat to publish it within this year and hope it works. Best regards to Brazil and thanks again.
Rolf
Thanks again.

Hi Chris,

indeed not a lot of pics available. This is somehow strange as the unit had to to with cameras every day and night.
The big issue is to find the relatives still today. I'm sure the unit took pics and I found some but most of them showing pilots but not the planes.
SO I tried to find Riewes and Rüffers relatives in Germany but without date of birth there is no way.
Thanks again
Rolf
