On 13th Feb Mosquito of 410 Sqd flown on by S/L Somerville shot down a Ju 88 and then went onto make contact with another e/a at around 20.50 hrs . This second e/a was identified as a Ju 188 because the semi circle exhaust ring above the wing , which may have also apply to a Do 217 K of 7/KG 2 , that claimed a Beaufighter shot down at 20.58 hrs. Somerville reported that the e/a returned fire from the upper turret , and he broke away to port losing contact putting in a claim for a damaged Ju 188 at 21.10 hrs .

Silly suggestion but why not a case of 'Red on Red'?
P-47 aka FW 190 (hit runner?) ?
