Do 217 crash location 6 Aug 44

At 0100 hrs, a Do 217 M-11 of Stab III/KG 100 crashed "near St Brieuc" probably shot down by Flt Lt Peter Hall of 488 Sqn off St Malo. Two of the crew were captured by the Maquis but the other two have an unknown date of death and a death at St Michael de Pleland east of St Brieuc on 15 Aug 43. Can anyone tie down the crash location?

The information below is taken from the testimonies of Mesdames Anne-Marie Jouan, Angèle Grosset, Messrs Yves Allain and Yves Lefort of Saint Michel de Plélan. During the night of Saturday August 5 to Sunday August 6, 1944 around 2 am, a German plane was attacked and strafed, above the village of "La Vieuxville" in the town of "Bourseul". The plane on fire grazes the steeple of the church and crashes into a willow moor called "under the wood" about 600 meters east of the village. The population hears a shooting, it is the ammunition of the plane which explodes. On Sunday morning, at dawn, the first on the scene of the crash is Madame Mesfray known as "La Giembe" who lives at the Hotel Havet. After mass the population will see the fallen plane, in a crater dug by the fall and the explosion of the plane, and the body of a charred aviator who is lying on a pile of bundles which caught fire. Another aviator who jumped in a parachute arrived on Sunday morning at Bourg de St Michel and asked Jean Martin (Father of Angèle Grosset) to take him to the crash site. Then he goes to the grocery store, at Joseph and Denise Bonenfant's, to make a phone call.

Thanks for this-pretty useful. It seems that three crew were killed and one captured. I would suggest that the likely victor was Hall as Tom McLean's claim was 10 mile west of Angers, quite a distance away

Thanks-it seems that many of the fates of these III/KG 100 aircrew are confused
