Can anyone help identify an RAF unit and Veteran from a service number please?
This is a friend of mines relative which I am trying to help them workout what he did during the war. They are under the impression it was something to do with Barrage Balloons?
I have looked on the National Archive and Fold 3 but cannot find any trace of him. Here are the details, any help appreciated. "Hello my aunt has my grandads dog tags, It says RAF 912 no. 848309, Norman Elvins. I got his dob slightly wrong it’s 28/8/1910" Thanks in advance for any help/advice, cheers, Neil |

Btw what is interesting is that Alec Hinks
848385 Royal Air Force also of 912 Sqn has a very close number to Norman Elvins which indicates to me that the AAF balloon Sqn’s like the Main Flying AAF Sqns had local service number allocation batches |
