Hi guys

I do not know if this is off topic and/or this is the correct area to post this, but have any of you seen the video of the captured JG 54 Fw 190 A-4 at www.youtube.com Rather interesting and perhaps more of you guys would enjoy seeing it if you do not know about it already. It is in Russian, though, of course.

Inside Osprey series about JG54, John Weal state that H.Brandt, 2./JG54, forced-landed "black 2" W.Nr. 142310, on the frozen surface of Ladoga lake after tangling with four fighters from 158th Regiment...

On the other side i have just read the Soviet version page 177 from "swastika in the gunsight" by Igor Kaberov, who saw the Fw 190 newcomers for the first time only the day before, that H.Brandt was actually to shoot on Soviet vehicules on the Ladoga lake but when he press the trigger the shells from the incorrectly adjusted guns simply cut off the propeller blades! Must be said that he had ordered his mechanic to adjust the guns interruptor mechanism a little earlier. http://www.simhq.com/forum/images/gr...ault/sleep.gif

At http://www.airpages.ru/cgi-bin/epg2....imgfw190a4_lad there is a nice photograph of this aircraft once in Russian hands. The photograph was most likely taken shortly after capture or at the very least before repair as underbelly damage is visible due to the forced landing. I have read that this was the first Fw 190 captured by the Russians and that later the German insignias and unit emblems were overpainted and Red Stars added. If the video is of the same fighter then it was taken sometime between these two steps. Hopefully some one else can add somewhat more to this.

Thanks for the good resolution photo Léo...

Just want to add that Kaberov flew to cover Leningrad area from 1941 to 1943, that he probably saw the German pilot describing him as a young, average height, brown haired man and that his version is actually what had been said by the German pilot through the help from an interpreter.
At this time Kaberov was a LaGG 3 pilot inside the 3rd Guard Fighter Regiment from the Baltic Fleet and as he had the pleasure to sat inside this Fw 190, he found the field of vision rather limited when the hood is closed.

I presume to cut all the blades from it's propeller with it's own guns must be something pretty rare?
