Fw 190 A-4, wkn 0799, SG 101, "Bu-Hu"
1 Attachment(s)
Good morning for all.
Just for curiosity. Recently a photograph (attached) of this Fw 190 A-4, werknummer 0799, apparently from SG 101, with a "Bu-Hu" and 7 + Laurels (on the cowling) was sold (170 Euros!). Is it known the story of this particular machine (fate? Pilot?)? https://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/d...to_48002_p.jpg A. |

Hi Adriano
I have been able to find the following. The old LEMB Stkz database has entry for SK+OU with SG 103. Following back through the main source for this, which is Ken Merricks LW Camouflage and Markings 1933-1945 Vol 2, on Page 394 the book refers to Crashed Enemy Aircraft Report No 266 dated 21 Feb 45 which reported SG103 aircraft found at Metz-Frescaty. In the quoted info from the report it lists Fw 190 A-4 SK+OU, Yellow 3, WNr 0799. It appears therefore that aircraft at some time was re-assigned from SG101 to SG103. Mike |

The photo you posted was sold as a part of a likely SG 101 album six years ago, another view appeared 'solo' later.
The aircraft was eventually abandoned at Metz-Frescaty amogst SG 103 machines, as it is listed in Crashed Enemy Aircraft Report No.266 from 21.02.1945. When it was found, it was supposedly marked with Stammkennzeichen and a yellow 3 outlined in red. I once found this image sourced from British Pathe, presumably being a part of a larger footage: https://abload.de/img/69831217_427064204594y2kkz.jpg |
