Kommando Bisping?
Good morning,
Jan Horn in Die Augen des OKW..., (2021), has a chapter entitled "4.5 Das Nachtjagd-Erprobungskommando Ar 234, pp.282-290. In it Horn states that on 12 December 1944, Ltn. Oskar Schreckenberger of 3./NJGr. 10 was named kommandofuhrer of the Nachtjagd-Erprobungskommando Ar 234 and that it was Schreckenberger who did the testing of the Ar 234 B-2/N. It was only when SM+FE; WNr. 140 145 was declared operational "around 12 February 1945" that Hptm. Josef Bisping, staffelkapitan of 3./Versuchsverband OKL, used his "friendship" with Schreckenberger to fly a night mission on 13/14 February resulting in a fatal crash. Schreckenberger was then replaced by Hptm. Kurt Bonow of Stab/NJGr. 10. Is there any documentary evidence that there ever was a "Kommando Bisping" or that Josef Bisping was in charge of the development of the Ar 234 Night Fighter? best regards, Jim |
Re: Kommando Bisping?
The loss report mentions Hptm.Albert Vogel as the other casualty in the crash and not Schreckenberger.

Re: Kommando Bisping?
Hi Norbert,
You are, of course, correct. Hptm. Albert Vogl (spelling according to Horn) was the radar operator with Bisping. Jan Horn implies that Schreckenberger was sacked for allowing Bisping to fly it. Jim |
Re: Kommando Bisping?
Hello Norbert and Jim,
Interesting story about Schreckenberger ! Schreckenberger was with the I./NJG 1 in Venlo, testing some Me410 in this Gruppe. End June 1944 he was transferred to NJGr.10. Will check his personal papers which I received some years ago from his daughter. To be continued... best regards, Marcel |
