Victory tally Lt. Artur Ewert
Dear all,
Lt. Artur Ewert served as a pilot with 14./KG40, 9.(NJ)/ZG1, Sonderkommando Kunkel, and I./NJG4. According to an Ultra report dated the 24th March 1945, he had achieved three 'established' (confirmed) victories -were some of these achieved in daylight? Cheers and thanks for any details, Theo |
Re: Victory tally Lt. Artur Ewert
Hi Theo
I have him with the exact units you listed, but found only two claims, both with Ekdo.Kunkel as a Leutnant, and at night:- 2nd May 1944 Halifax Toulouse 0150 hrs 1000 metres A.S.M 4th May 1944 Stirling South of Paris 0058 hrs 2500 metres. Kind Regards Johannes |

I have his record of service somewhere but never had more than those strange claims listed by Johannes. Do have a photo of him

Re: Victory tally Lt. Artur Ewert
Thanks gentlemen -I do have Ewert's nighttime Abschüsse details, was wondering if any records of daylight claim(s) that he achieved existed, apparently not ..
Cheers, Theo |
Re: Victory tally Lt. Artur Ewert
Hi Theo
The earlier typed-out(pre-daily) staffel mikrofilms have not survived for the whole of ZG1, so there is no lead here, it is perfectly possible he claimed with them over Russia. With KG40 in my experience there were often several claimants for one "kill" especially against "viermots", which was ultimately awarded to one individual, so could be he had a "shared" or unconfirmed with this Geschwader. Kind Regards Johannes |

There is a file on him in Freiburg:

Re: Victory tally Lt. Artur Ewert
From what I remember this didn't contain much
