Hi all,

I know this is a total long shot! I have just bought this helmet on ebay. The seller thinks it belonged to a Mossie pilot. He did have some info but has lost it.

Would anyone be able to tell me who it might be?

Thanks,

Danny

The chap is only a corporal and the "wings" also look rather odd.

That does not mean that he did not go on to be a Mossie pilot, but at the time the photo was taken he definitely was not one

Regards

Martin

The seller very kindly sent me this message.

like i say the paper did tell the story, my grandparents son flew in Lancasters during the second world war, his surname was Hollington, he was very young and the crew called him bambino, thats the story my Mother always told, he was i think rear gunner, maybe you can research the name, the pictur could be him, but, what i remember of him when he was older, could nt say, he was my uncle Dick, so maybe was Richard, and my aunt called him Jim, the name Hollington would be enough if its something that can be researched, i would be interested to know.

A rear gunner on Mosquitoes???? I am afraid that many sellers state something totally different in order to enhance their returns

..but Danny was initially told it was from a Mosquito pilot. Might as well cover all bases to enhance selling chances-surprised Spitfire wasn't slipped in there somewhere
