Interesting shot of 3 of the first ex-WW2 fighter pilots at Feltwell, Norfolk for jet training in 1956; Gerhard Barkhorn, Herbert Wehnelt and Walter Krupinski.
All high-ranking later.

I think the plane is a Provost T.1.

Indeed it is, from the batch XF540 - XF599

Since most of the advanced "refresher" training was held in USA (England is just mentioned in passing), what kind of jet training took place in UK?

Except the Sea Hawk (for the Navy) I don't believe the new Luftwaffe considered any British type, did they?

Hi Stig.
Their training was in the USA on F-84s, a few in the UK on Hunters beginning July 1955; they returned to Germany in March 1956 as unit C/Os or Staff Officers ( some as instructors).
Not many British aircraft were chosen ( mostly American) but they adopted a few transport/ rescue types, Pembrokes, Herons and Sycamores.

So they trained on Hunters for a while. Interesting.
I know which types they selected, no worries. The Americans probably gave better deals....
