78th Fighter Group claims and victories, 1 september 1944
 

Hi all,

When NJG 1 evacuated Brustem airfield on 1 september 1944, 12./NJG 1 lost three Bf 110s shot down by Allied fighters. I have read somewhere that the 83rd Fighter Squadron, 78th Fighter Group shot down these three nightfighters.

Can someone provide claims and victories for 83 FS for 1 september 1944?
Or if some other unit was involved, the claims and victories for that unit on 1 september 1944?

No location where however for (the) five 83rd FS claims on that day.

The 83rd Fighter Squadron claimed four Me 110's destroyed and two damaged in the Gilze Rijen area around 2030 hours. There were no other Me 110 claims (in the air) made by Eighth or Ninth Air Force units on this date.

Yeah, location not very well reported by the 83rd FS pilots....:-))))
