Hurricane BN219 87 Squadron
 

On 19th August 1942 this aircraft flown by F/Lt Thom, was hit and damaged by AAA whilst strafing the Dieppe eastern headland. One bullet punctured the gycol tank, but the pilot was able to reach the UK, where he made a wheels up landing at East Dene, north of Newhaven. The aircraft sustained further damage after hitting a steel post during the landing. I'm trying to confirm whether the aircraft ended up as a Cat E or it if was later repaired.

Any ideas?

Doesn't add anything new, but AirBrit's BA100-BZ999 Revised edition 2006 just has the following -
"MkIIc, BN219 - 87 - Hit by flak, Dieppe, and crash-landed, East Dean, near Eastbourne, Sussex, 19.8.42".

Thanks for that.

I had it as Cat B, but looking through my old notes, I saw that I had made comment that could have been later made Cat E. I can't see where I got this later Cat E comment from, so I'll leave it as the Cat B it's reported as.
